How It Works

Link Types

Link Types

When a seller lists a domain, they choose which types of links they accept. When a buyer places an order, they pick one of those types. Understanding the difference matters - each type has a different level of effort for the seller and a different SEO value for the buyer.

Guest Post

A guest post is a full article written by the buyer (or the seller, if agreed separately) and published on the seller's domain. The buyer's link is included naturally within the article content.

  • Seller effort: High - requires publishing a new article
  • Buyer benefit: High - a topically relevant, freshly published page passing link equity
  • Typical use case: Building authority links in a specific niche
Guest posts are usually the most expensive link type because they require the most work from the seller.

Niche Edit

A niche edit (also called a "curated link" or "link insertion") adds the buyer's link into an existing article on the seller's site. No new content is written - the seller updates a relevant post to include the link.

  • Seller effort: Low - edit an existing post
  • Buyer benefit: High - the page already has backlinks and authority of its own
  • Typical use case: Getting a link from an aged, ranked page quickly
Niche edits are popular because they tend to rank faster than guest posts - the host page already has SEO history.

A homepage link places the buyer's link directly on the seller's homepage, usually in a "partners", "resources", or footer section.

  • Seller effort: Very low
  • Buyer benefit: Passes homepage authority, but context is less targeted
  • Typical use case: Brand building, passing raw domain authority
Homepage links are the most scrutinised type by search engines. Use them with a clear, logical reason why the link belongs there.

Press Release

A press release is a short announcement-style article published on the seller's domain, written in a journalistic format. It references the buyer's brand or product and includes a link.

  • Seller effort: Medium - a formatted press release needs publishing
  • Buyer benefit: Good for brand mentions and authority signals
  • Typical use case: Launching a product, entering a new market

A banner or sponsored placement is a visible advertisement - an image or text block displayed on the seller's site (sidebar, header, in-content) with a link to the buyer's site.

  • Seller effort: Low - add an image or snippet
  • Buyer benefit: Referral traffic + a link, but usually marked as sponsored
  • Typical use case: Direct traffic, brand exposure
Sponsored links should be marked as rel="sponsored" per Google's guidelines.
